Private label men’s body care means body washes, bar soaps, body butters, body oils and natural deodorants made to a brand’s own formula and brief for men, and sold under the brand’s name. Moe’s Group LLC formulates, fills and labels them at its FDA-registered facility in Chatsworth, California, where bar soap is also made in house: custom private label from 1,000 units; white label from 200 units where a ready formula exists. Our ISO 22716, ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 certificates are on the certifications page.

What is private label men’s body care?

It is a buyer segment, not a separate product type. A men’s body wash or body butter is made on the same lines and under the same cosmetic rules as any other; what changes is the brief. Men’s briefs tend to be specific about scent strength, a fast-absorbing or dry-touch feel, fewer steps, and claims about sweat, germs and beards that sit close to the drug line. Private label at Moe’s Group means a custom formula developed to that brief; white label means a ready formula under your own label.

What are men’s body care shoppers searching for?

Products, not the category. US Google searches in September 2026 were 49,500 for shave cream, 33,100 for beard oil, 18,100 for men’s body wash, 8,100 each for beard balm and men’s natural deodorant, 5,400 for men’s body butter and 3,600 for men’s body oil (Google Keyword Planner via Keywords Everywhere).

The trends point in different directions. Beard oil searches fell from 74,000 in January 2026 to 33,100 in September, while men’s body butter rose from 2,900 in October 2025 to 5,400. Searches for body butter cologne for men went from 30 to 880 over the same twelve months.

What is a body butter cologne?

A whipped body butter carrying a fragrance strong enough to stand in for cologne, sold to men as a moisturizer and scent in one. On TikTok Shop, one men’s body butter cologne listing showed 50,366 lifetime units sold when checked on October 28, 2026. On Amazon, the generic search body butter for men drew an estimated 35,447 searches in September 2026, and average ratings on men’s body butter results ranged from 2.2 to 4.3 stars, which leaves room for a better-made product.

The hard part is the fragrance load. A cologne-strength dose in a leave-on butter has to stay within the IFRA limits for that product type, which are lower than for a rinse-off wash, and a heavy dose can change texture and stability. Ask the fragrance house for its IFRA certificate for each product and dose before you approve the scent. Tallow is a common base; see our whipped tallow body butter page.

Should a men’s line start with bar soap or body wash?

Either works, and many lines carry both: bar soap is made in house at our Chatsworth facility, alongside body washes. The choice changes the rules. Under 21 CFR 701.20, a bar counts as soap, regulated by the Consumer Product Safety Commission rather than FDA, only if most of it is alkali salts of fatty acids, those salts do the cleaning, and it is sold only as soap. Call it moisturizing or deodorizing and it is a cosmetic; claim it kills germs and it is a drug. Body wash is a cosmetic from the start; see our body wash manufacturing page.

How do men’s body care formats compare?

By how they are used and where the claim trap sits. The table covers the formats on our body care pages; for format detail see our natural deodorant manufacturing and body lotion manufacturing pages.

FormatRinse-off or leave-onWhat men’s brands ask forClaim to watch
Body washRinse-offScented and exfoliating washesAntibacterial or germ-killing makes it an OTC drug

What does the market data say about men’s body care?

That it is growing, but not faster than body wash as a whole. Unilever agreed in June 2025 to buy Dr. Squatch, a men’s natural bar soap brand, for about 1.5 billion US dollars. On Amazon, estimated monthly searches for men’s body wash rose 22% between September 2025 and September 2026, from 302,631 to 367,955 (VOC.ai keyword data), against 29% for body wash overall.

So the room is in newer formats and better execution, not in another basic three-in-one wash. Scent-led butters are the fastest-rising searches in this set.

What can a men’s body care product claim?

Claims about how skin and hair look and feel, and how the product smells, are cosmetic; claims that the product changes the body or treats a condition make it a drug under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. Men’s lines get caught on four: sweat, germs, beard growth and hormones. 21 CFR 310.527 regards any product sold over the counter to grow hair or stop hair loss as a new drug that needs an approved application, and 21 CFR 310.528 does the same for products labelled to arouse or increase sexual desire. The FTC expects every claim to be backed by competent evidence, so test the finished product before label artwork.

Which men’s body care formats can Moe’s Group make?

Body washes, bar soaps, body butters including whipped tallow, body lotions and creams, body oils, body scrubs, and natural deodorant sticks, creams and roll-ons, all made in Chatsworth. Ask us about beard oils, beard balms and shave creams before you brief one. Alcohol-based body sprays and colognes are not covered on this page.

A scent-led line usually shares one fragrance across the wash, butter and deodorant, dosed separately for each, and the pack is chosen with the formula; see our cosmetic packaging page.

Frequently asked questions

What is private label men’s body care?

Body care made to a brand’s own formula for men and sold under the brand’s name, such as body wash, bar soap, body butter and natural deodorant. The same cosmetic rules apply as to any body care product.

What is a body butter cologne?

A whipped body butter with a fragrance strong enough to replace cologne. The dose has to stay within IFRA limits for a leave-on product, so ask the fragrance house for an IFRA certificate before you approve the scent.

Is a natural deodorant the same as an antiperspirant?

No. A natural deodorant controls odor and is a cosmetic. An antiperspirant reduces sweat, usually with aluminum salts, and is an OTC drug under FDA monograph M019, with a Drug Facts label.

Can a beard oil claim to grow a beard?

No. A claim to grow, thicken or regrow hair makes the product a drug; 21 CFR 310.527 covers products sold over the counter for hair growth. A beard oil can say the beard feels softer and looks fuller.

Can a men’s body wash be called antibacterial?

Not as a cosmetic. An antibacterial or germ-killing claim makes a wash or bar soap an OTC drug, and an FDA final rule from 2016 bars triclosan and 18 other active ingredients from consumer antiseptic washes.

Does Moe’s Group make bar soap in house?

Yes. Bar soap is made in house at our facility in Chatsworth, California. A bar that is mostly alkali salts of fatty acids and sold only as soap is regulated by the CPSC; any other cleansing bar is a cosmetic, or a drug if it claims to kill germs.

Does a men’s body care product have to be approved by the FDA?

No. FDA does not approve cosmetics, other than color additives, before sale. Under MoCRA the responsible person on the label, usually the brand, lists each product with FDA unless exempt as a small business, and keeps safety substantiation records. Moe’s Group’s facility is FDA-registered, which is not an approval.

What is the minimum order for private label men’s body care?

At Moe’s Group the minimum order is custom private label from 1,000 units; white label from 200 units where a ready formula exists. Lead time depends on the formula and is set out in your quote.
